      Port Captain (Bulk/Grains) – London/Singapore

      Ceto is currently seeking a Port Captain with Bulk vessel and more specifically Grains cargoes to join our client’s operation in Singapore or London.

      Our client is a leading shipping company with worldwide offices and a focus on innovation.

      The Port Captain will have the following responsibilities:

      • Ensure the full implementation of HSSE policies and procedures and national / international regulations / code of practice in line with relevant marine operations.
      • Assisting the Masters and the operators with bulk carrier loading/discharging operations including berthing, unberthing, custody transfer and discharging of cargo.
      • Checking of stowage plans and day to day voyage planning.
      • Ensure all shipping activities are in full compliance with terminal/port regulations.
      • Maintain, update and implement necessary operational procedures for all shipping activities in line with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
      • Improve the knowledge of  Vessel Operators in marine and bulk carrier berthing, stow and voyage planning and loading/discharging operations.
      • Assist in the development, review of existing, and implementation of crisis management and emergency response procedures, including interfaces and responsibilities while our vessels are at berth.
      • Undertake any other tasks commensurate with skills and experience, such as monitoring the daily requirements of the vessel including but not limited to navigation and the general best practice of seamanship.
      • Assist the operations team with the interaction between the vessel and its charterers/receivers, before during and after intended port call.
      • Liaise with the operations team and the fleet as required.
      • Work with the crewing team to support building vessel crews based on experience levels.

      Required Skills:

      • Experience of at least 10 years onboard bulk carriers, with focus on trading grains.
      • Demonstrated experience in marine operations.
      • Desirable experience in an officer capacity with hazardous cargo handling on board bulk carriers.
      • Demonstrated experience of bulk carrier berthing.
      • Bulk cargoes handling and implementation of marine procedures.
      • Experienced in risk assessments and control of work.
      • Subject matter expert in marine operations.
      • Competent and knowledgeable in dry cargo terminal operations, with focus on grains trade.
      • Proficient in modern navigation software.
