      Our client, a leading international ship management company that have been operating for almost 3 decades are seeking a candidate with a track record in QHSE matters.

      Are you passionate about ensuring safety and quality standards in vessel operations? Our client seeks a talented individual to oversee and ensure compliance with their stringent safety and quality guidelines.

      As part of their team, you’ll be responsible for driving a structured system of audit and compliance processes while adhering to industry regulations, legislation, and our internal safety and quality standards.


      Key responsibilities:

      Champion Safety and Quality Standards

      You will be held accountable for meeting and maintaining the company’s safety and quality standards in vessel operations. Your role involves ensuring that audit, compliance and PSC processes align with safety and quality standards.


      Design and Implement Security Strategy

      Take charge of designing and implementing a robust security strategy for the fleet. Collaborate with senior management to develop security infrastructure, policies, processes, and training. Continuously review and recommend improvements based on industry best practices and geopolitical conditions.


      Risk Management and Contingency Planning

      Drive the prevention of operational risk through well-defined policies and processes in Audit, Compliance, Port of Calling, and PSC. Support the identification of potential risks related to safety, security, or environmental incidents in vessel operations. Establish a structured contingency manual to handle unforeseen incidents.


      Continuous Improvement

      Be responsible for implementing and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the department. Collaborate with the team to identify areas for improvement in policies, processes, and technological infrastructure. Monitor adherence to timelines and budgets for improvement projects and report progress to the reporting manager.


      Day-to-Day Oversight

      Be accountable for resolving major issues of non-compliance identified in vessel audits. Monitor and review non-compliance issues in vessel audits and provide direction to department heads for resolution, escalating to the reporting manager as necessary. Provide high-level insights for policy planning.


      Cost Management

      Ensure department operations adhere to the budget. Be responsible for reviewing, aggregating, projecting, and presenting the annual department budget. Assist the department head in identifying and resolving budget anomalies.


      Develop Human Capital

      Develop the capabilities of your direct reports through mentorship and development plans. Identify competency gaps through performance reviews and collaborate with HR to address them. Review and provide input on the HR workforce plan to ensure adequate staffing for critical positions.


      To be selected, candidates must be able to evidence the following Experience & Qualifications:

      • Class 1 Certificate of competency (Master Mariner/Chief Officer)
      • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience as Master/Chief Officer
      • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a shore-based management role with an exceptional performance track record
      • Experience in leading audit and compliance exercises on a large scale
      • In-depth understanding of the industry regulations and regulations on safety and quality
      • In-depth understanding of ship chartering operations
      • Master’s degree in Maritime or relevant field
